As usual, it took me a while to get with the program and read the book everyone is going crazy over. And as usual, I loved it and am waiting impatiently until I get my hands on the second book!

I'm grateful that I got this book for free, because I would have been pissed if I had paid for it.

What little world building there is just riffs off of obvious YA and dystopian cliches, adding nothing unique to the conversation. Even the groups themselves sounded more like tired derivatives of the Harry Potter houses, rather than anything new.

Great premise, love the dystopian society they’ve created. Seems so simple to let people group with those who are like-minded. But choices are rarely that simple, rarely just between two options. I love the story, enhanced by the snippets that let us see Four’s side in the little novellas.

Violence, attempted murder with groping of main character, discussion of fear of intimacy and sex. Nothing too graphic. PG 14 maybe 15.

So glad my young friend recommended I read this dystopian novel. I absolutely loved this story and getting to know both Tris and Four. Looking forward to Insurgent on May 1st!
