I have never been more disappointed with a series as I was in The Vampire Diaries: The Return. I absolutely loved the original 4 books of The Vampire Diaries. I have read them over and over and over again over the last 20 years. When the new series came out, I was worried. It took me a long time to read them because I was so worried about them not standing up to the originals. And sadly, I had every reason to worry. These books were borderline schizophrenic. Though this novel started out on the slow side and dragged on for the first few chapters I couldn't put it down after that. All the twists, turns, and curve balls thrown in just made it all the more exciting leaving me wanting more. I think it might even be the best in the series so far.
