Embarrassingly, the only version of this I'd seen is the Mickey Mouse version, so I kept imagining Scrooge McDuck and Mickey Mouse as I read it. Highly distracting.

I've seen so many versions of this story (the Muppet one, the Bill Murray one, the Patrick Stewart one, the Vanessa Williams one, etc.), but it was really fun to finally read the original. Many of the adaptations follow the plot of the (short) story very closely, so there weren't many surprises, but it was great to read more detail. I always wondered about the reasons for Scrooge's failed engagement, so I found the scene with his would-be fiance interesting. I also think that the scene where thi ...more
