What Members Thought

I had avoided this for awhile thinking it was a horror book, but then so many of my friends gave it high ratings and it was discounted on Kindle, and here we are.
This is probably closer to a 4.5, but the opening dragged for me and the ending near about broke my heart (that part is not a negative). Somewhere at the midway point and Josie I got completely drawn in and will be missing that night's sleep for some time to come.

Wow I can't believe it I finally finished listening to this book, it took so long because it was on 30 cds and I listened to them in the car on my way to and from work, and for me the story didn't really start getting fascinating until the last 7 cds.
This is a story of time travel, the way it is done in the book is actually plausible, the characters seem very real and because of that they make some really stupid decision as we humans tend to do in real life. The problem with that, for me at leas ...more

This wasn't as science fictiony as I like my science fiction, but the story moved well. It was tremendously easy to read--the part of me that tries not to be a snob will put this in the positive trait category. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was uncomplicated and unsubtle (the twists and turns were easy to follow and not unexpected), but the characters were believable and the plot engaging.

Originally reviewed at Jayne's Books.
For the most part I really enjoyed the book, but I felt that the end of book, basically the last 50 pages, kinda fell flat. I understand why King had to do what he had to do at the end, but it kinda seemed like a bit of a cop out, especially since he had spent so much of the book building towards the day of the shooting.
Enough of that. What I loved about the book was the fact was that clearly King had done his research not only on Oswald, but he clearly had d ...more

A truly, truly remarkable and intense book. The early 60s and the JFK assassination/conspiracy theories have been a fascination of mine for some time, so this became a must-read for me. I also love time travel and all of its possibilities. Stephen King did an AMAZING job painting a picture of the past and the future(s) that could emerge if we're not careful to keep reality in check; that time is a fragile entity and something human beings should not mess with no matter how much we think things C

What would you do if you had the chance to go back in time and prevent Kennedy from being assassinated? For Jake Epping, the choice was made for him by an old friend's last wish. As he circumnavigates the past, he creates a Butterfly Effect that ripples through the past and alters the present. Finding love, fulfillment and a chance to put things right, will he risk everything, including his heart, to save the future?
