This was a very challenging audio book to listen to because you really had to pay attention. But I loved listening to this story as it slowly developed and you were left thinking, "What?! What?! What the heck is going on?!" And even as you start to figure some things out, something else comes up and you're thinking, "Wait a minute!" To me, this felt like a cross between Agatha Christie and Barry Crouch (Recursion). I suppose there are some elements of Groundhog Day in it, but I didn't get that f

I didn't think there was any new ways to tell an estate party murder mystery, but then this book came along. Wow, I actually felt thrill and worry as the bodies piled up in a way that I haven't since first introduced to this type of story so many years ago.
All twists and turns--even the ultimate one--were well earned. But, ultimately, it didn't quite reach five stars because of said ultimate turn. (view spoiler) ...more

The Good:
So many twists and turns and the suspense really does keep the reader interested. The entire idea of writing a mystery novel with one character waking up in different hosts bodies and being them for a time is crazy and amazing. The cast of characters were fantastic. Incredibly atmospheric.
The Bad:
I did struggle a bit to keep the plot points together as we went through the different hosts. Some of the time I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be confused or if I was just confused because ...more

Such an unexpected mystery and novel approach to solving it. I thought I was going to have trouble keeping track of so many characters but the author is helpful in backtracking as part of the storytelllng and even reminds you which character was embodied when certain aspects of solving the plot were discovered. I read this because others in the Goodreads PipSugar reading challenge group had selected it as a January selection to read together. Glad I picked this one up.
