What Members Thought
This book and I are not starting off on the right foot. First of all, the names are stupid and sound made up (I mean, "Celaena Sardothien"? seriously??). Never the sign of a good fantasy. Second, each character is introduced by his/her full name. ugh. Never the sign of a skilled writer. Not to mention, why do I care what their full names are? Throw it in later, if you must - have someone call out "hey Mr Fullname!" and you've got it. But instead, we've got needless repetitions of FullName FullNa

I absolutely enjoyed reading this, but I'm not sure how objectively good it was? Does that make any sense? I hear amazing things about the series as a whole and maybe that will solve some of my issues -- which are, namely, inconsistent characters, telling rather than showing, a clear (up until now) set of "good" and "bad" characters, and a lack of overall world-building. Any other book with these complaints would get a 3-star rating at best. But this book?? I absolutely could not put this down a
