This is not my first rodeo with Sarah J. Maas. I think this is the 10th book I've read written by her, and it is one of the better ones. However, I also tend to enjoy the start of her series more than the endings. This particular story feels a lot like Sarah J. Mass's take on Anita Blake, and I don't mind it. (It's mostly the urban fantasy murder mystery angle that makes it feel like Anita Blake.)

Great book

I grabbed this because it fit my usual interests. And then I couldn't out it down..started switching between the Audible and written versions. Stopped skimming and started reading each word. Laughed, cried. Thank you. Great book. ...more

I listened to the audio, and it was a very long listen (I listen at 1.25-1.45 speed). The last 1/4 of the book was a nail biter! Through most the book I was thinking it was a 3 star, but the last 1/3-1/4, definitely bumped it to 4. It was very good and I will recommend it, but it didn’t blow my socks off.
