Okay, so I'm very sad to not rate this book higher, especially because I really enjoyed Night Circus. I did round up to 3 stars because there were passages where I found it very interesting and honestly, the writing is very good. However, that said, I could not figure out what was going on. This is one of those books that I wish would never end. I want to go and live in an underground harbour by the starless sea, surrounded by books, magic and mystery. I want to be friends with the characters and listen to all of their stories. I loved the way that all the stories intertwined beautifully and came together towards the end, with characters turning out to be not quite who they had seemed.

This book really had me going for the last 200 pages. It was so emotional and full of hope and mystery. I enjoyed myself so much that I nearly cried.
