What happens when people make quick assessments, fast judgments on others - especially if those "others" are just a bit different? What happens when children grow up witnessing abuse? What happens to women who are abused - either by one of their parents, a boyfriend, a stranger? What are the consequences of one bad decision?

This is such a good book, so very well written and the characters are all so well developed, they became very real to me as I read the book.

I did laugh out loud quite a few times while reading it but I also became outraged at other times at what was being done to some of the characters.

Quick read and a lot of fun---you are guessing until the end which character is the victim and which is the perpetrator of an implied crime. A few of the characters are fleshed out with strong voices and great dialogue. Others are really stereotypes, but that's okay, too; they serve their purposes and help move the plot along. I hear this is going to be a television series and it should be a crowd pleaser. ...more

4.75 stars. I got so hooked reading this book and had to pay library fines just to finish it :) One of my favorites that I've read this year! This is about a group of families whose children are all in kindergarten together. Some laughable characters, some deeply disturbed. There are many twists, turns, and secrets. Loved it! ...more
