Wake was a good start to a new series. I really like the idea that Lisa McMann came up with; I think it's pretty original. The writing style for this book is a bit different than other typical YA books; McMann provides specific times for each scene in the book, and it's written in the present tense. Example- "11:31 am: Janie groans and opens her eyes. Her head is against the steering wheel."

This book was an interesting read. I loved the story only because it was interesting and not your typical young adult novel. The plot was cool. The romance was great. The experiences you feel through these characters are kind of depressing. They just have tough lives, but they learn to take care of themselves and to love so I thought that was great and really the main point of the story to me.
