I'm currently trying to import most of my reviews from my blog onto Goodreads. I was zipping along, copying and pasting like a champ, when I saw my An Abundance of Katherines review. I'd written this review so long ago and it is so embarrassingly terrible. {Don't even try looking for it as it's probably been deleted from the blogosphere by now.} So, I'm obviously not posting the horror on here. I've decided to just give a few short thoughts on my absolute devotion to Katherines.

I am a complete John Green fangirl. Let's just get that out of the way right off the bat. The man could right a how-to manual on proper dental hygiene and I'd still most likely love it. The first John Green book I ever read was Paper Towns. I read it a few days after it came out and immediately wanted more. So I headed into my school library and, in a manner I'm sure alarmed the staff, asked for a John Green book. The librarian pulled out Looking For Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines and my eyes glazed over in admiration for a bit, I'm pretty positive everyone in the room was terrified. Anyway, I asked for a suggestion on which I should read first, to which the librarian replied, "Well, I don't really like Katherines at all so I'd just stick to Looking For Alaska."

So I devoured Looking For Alaska. And I forgot about Katherines for quite a while. Months later, when I had a small TBR pile and was way ahead on reviews, I decided to read the deemed by many "middle child" of John Green novels. I read it faster than Paper Towns and Looking For Alaska combined. Katherines is one of those books that truly let me escape from reality for at least a little while and take a road trip with some friends without ever leaving my town. I absolutely adore the story, and it makes me so sad to see some dismiss it so easily. While it's by no means the most popular of John's novels, I truly do love it and hope more fans of Alaska, Paper Towns, and Will Grayson, Will Grayson will decide to give it a read. ...more
