I loved this book. It was fascinating reading about the women's war during WWII. I loved the significance of the title and the multiple nuanced meanings as the story unfolded and the Nightingale was "caught." Probably my favorite book of 2017 so far. ...more

I honestly don’t know what to say about this book that hasn’t already been said. It’s an absolutely beautifully written, heart wrenching story about love, survival and what a person will do to protect what they hold dear.

I tried to listen to the audiobook of this, and got so mad at the characters I stopped after about 2 hours. I know this is a bestselling book so lots of people liked it. I normally don't give any bad reviews, except for popular books that won't be harmed by them. If you want a wonderful WWII in France novel, read Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See. ...more

This was a fabulous book. The characters were so well wrought that you really felt you were in the story with them. It was interesting to read about the Great War from a new perspective as well.

Amazing book about two sisters dealing with the cruel nature of WWII in France, and an absentee father. I enjoyed the description of the cities and the day-to-day hardship and bravery of the people of France.
