What Members Thought

Gin Blanco is an assassin known as The Spider. She's very good at her job. Her handler Fletcher Lane keeps urging Gin to retire from this life. Gin lost her family at a young age which is part of the reason she became an assassin. The job should have been a cake walk but was anything but. Now Gin must find who double crossed her for some pay back. Why the double cross? What really happened to her family? Your answers await you in Spider's Bite.

This was a good start to the series. I like the idea of elemental magic, and I liked the effectiveness of the main character. I did not like her relationship with the love interest - it was too adversarial for me. I'm sure I'll be continuing on. 3.5 stars, rounded up.

Amazing first in series, will definitely be reading the rest of the series to follow Gin!

this stated out really promising, it got a little boring in the middle and then picked up again at the end. it was mildly predictable in placing. Gin is a kick-ass assassin that has learnt to keep her emotions in check however when she's framed for something she didn't do and her handler is killed she mush learn to trust her emotions and join forces with what sounds like the only not corrupt cop in the city to catch the real killer and clear her name.

I loved this book. So gritty, and interesting. The characters, the world, the action, the storyline, all were wonderful and completely sucked me in. Gin is my favorite type heroine in UF, tough but vulnerable. Even though it was written in first person, it was not full of snarky humor that gets old so quickly. I look forward to reading the next one - soon!

A strong main character is important to me. I want someone who doesn't whine to much, has a great sense of humor, and a real kick ass attitude. Gin fits that to the nth degree. I love her southern charm, her matter of fact attitude, her intuition and passion.

I've read a couple of books from Jennifer's other series and she never disappoints me! What's not for me to love in this series with a kick ass female assasin, magic and mayhem, vampires and the like? The story is very fasted moving and in the first few pages you've already hit the floor running!

Yeah! A solid main character with an edge. She makes a killer sandwich, eats Mtn Dew cake and wears a watch with a garrote wire hidden inside. I love Gin. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
