A heavy, beautifully written book. I've had it on my physically bookshelf over ten years and never read it but always intended to. The main character is likeable as she drifts among different hardships and awful situations. I confess to knowing nothing at all about Geishas and the cultures of the time, so what they were and what they went through, and so much more, was educational.
