Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut
This was the second time I have read this book ( the first time over 4 years ago) and still I was glued to the pages from beginning to end. Even though I knew whodunnit and how. This book still kept me enthralled from the very first page. I and currently at book 19 of this series so going back to the beginning of Dallas and Rourke and being reminded where it all began was a real treat. Although this is a book and essentially a set up for the rest of the series, it really doesn't read like it. Th ...more

Eve, a police lieutenant, is investigating serial murders and Roarke, wealthy businessman, is suspecting initially. Loved this book. Eve is a no nonsense police woman who is drawn to Roarke. He helps her throughout the investigation and, of course, they have fantastic chemistry. I'll definitely read on in this series. ...more

I didn't feel the draw to this one. I didn't connect with Eve or Rouke, and I figured out the murderer really early.
I will read book 2 to see if I'm more engaged because it has to be good for this series to have 80 books, right?

I want to like Eve Dallas because she is a survivor, a fighter and a darn good cop, but I can't excuse how quickly she got with Rourke. Can she be that lonely? I do want to know more about her past so she gets another book to make me a believer.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas of New York Police and Security Department(NYPSD) is a thorough investigator. She is working Code 5 case and despises politics in any form. She's haunted by memories of her past and present sticking them into a box clearly marked "not going to think about". During the investigation, Eve meets Roarke considered a suspect and clearly a man of mystery. There is definitely a spark of attraction between Eve and Roarke. Can Eve solve this case? Can Roarke understand his feelings ...more

Having already read numerous books from this series completely out of order, it was fun to finally see how it all started. While I really don't get all the Roarke groupies out there (Okay, he's hot - but he can be extremely overbearing, arrogant and annoying. For reasons I fail to comprehend, lots of people seem to find those qualities attractive in male characters.), the series does have lots of characters I love and never fails to provide good entertainment. ...more

Totally surprised by this series! I'd seen so many people reading it but thought it's just another murder-mystery cop thriller.....but it's not!! The glimpses of the futuristic world are fantastic! Hooked!! ...more

I liked this. I am not completely gaga over the series like most people seem to be though. I do plan to continue the series though.

*Trigger Warning-Child Abuse*
I would give this book a 4.5! I really enjoyed this book and stayed entertained through the entire book. However, I docked it half a star for my own personal sensitivity to the subject of child abuse. It's a great book regardless and I'm itching to pick up the second book in the series!

I enjoyed the book but thought the author got so carried away with the romance that she forgot there was a dead body. Once she realized that the story was great.
