Great book.

I really liked this book much more than I expected to.

I enjoyed the world building in the book although I did think the factions were kinda dumb (when I say this I mean the people in the book are dumb for creating this kind of society) because really people can't value one aspect of human behavior over all the others and you can't rule all the behaviors out. Its ridiculous to think that it could happen. The factions are supposed to work in harmony which is why they were created in the first pla

Now I know what all the hype is about! What a great read! I devoured this one in a day O.o

All the main characters were likeable albeit slightly flawed as a result of their upbringing within their families faction. Even though this was meant to eliminate war, hate, etc. human bias still reared it angry head and people were singled out and made fun of depending on their faction. Ultimately greed takes over.

Can't wait to read the next one!!!

So I'm late to the party on this one but I'm glad I finally read it! The world building was pretty unique and Tris and Four were well written. It took me a second to get into it but once I reached the halfway mark I couldn't put it down. I love it when the villains are written to where you absolutely hate them. Ms. Roth did an excellent job with the villains, I hate them with every bone in my body. Looking forward to seeing what book 2 brings us!

I did not like Hunger Games and so stayed away from this book - another distopian YA book. Boy, was I wrong. What made all the difference to me in this book was the character development. There were layers to them and they grappled with right and wrong. Looking forward to the next one.

In the future there is a place made up of five factions. When the citizens turn sixteen they choose which factions to join. The story is what happens to Beatrice after she made that choice.

This book was fast paced and engaging. I will admit I liked Four better than any other character. He was one of the few people in the book who I believed had a back story.

I did find it sad that the people in the book who caused most of the mischief belonged to the faction which appealed the most to me.

I watched the movie first and can honestly say it didn't hinder my reading of this book..I actually fell more in love with the story and characters while reading. I've seen the second movie, but not the third..so my plan is to read the second book than the third and watch the movie to compare. I don't tend to watch movies before reading the books but this one just happened to be one I saw in the theater with friends..much like Hunger Games it shows young women that they can be the heroine of a s ...more

I absolutely loved this book, I had to finish this before the movie and I'm so glad I did, it was worth the 2 days I spent non-stop reading it. The movie is definitely on par with the book. ...more
