I loved this book! I'm glad I already have the sequel to it. This is a great coming of age book that kids would be able to read & commiserate with the teens & having to make decisions about what they'll do when they're at the age of deciding what they really want to do with their lives.

The characters have numerous adult decisions to make, moral dilemmas, romantic involvement, & other great subjects of interest.

Recommended highly for teens & adults alike! Now on to the sequel!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book and I almost gave up after the first chapter because I didn’t like the idea of it, but I convinced myself to keep reading and I’m glad that I did! In order for me to like a book, I have to fall in love with the characters and I did right away with this book. Four/Tobias was one of my favorite characters because he was so mysterious and through out the story I got to learn more and more about him. I loved Tobias and Tris’ relationship, that is most l ...more

Overlooking that, the character connections, Tris and Four, interact on different levels, student and instructor, first romance awkwardness, are compelling. The fight scenes wri ...more

I’ve had this on my TBR for a very long time. I am not a big YA Fantasy reader, but I wanted to compare the book to the movie. The basic premise is set in dystopian Chicago where the world is divided into five factions and 16 year olds much choose which faction that they want. They are then removed from their families and sent off to train in their respective faction. The story centers on Beatrice whose test results are inconclusive. This entire book reminds me of The Hunger Games, Matched, and ...more

This was another well done book. I liked the story, and the characters. I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series.
