Wow, I had only the vaguest memories of this book. Which I guess isn't too surprising considering how long ago I read it. But, I'm glad I reread it now before moving on to the next book in the series. Somehow I didn't remember exactly how dark this book truly is.
This is a dark fairy story and one I'm sure is going to get more twisted as the series goes on before true light shines through. Nothing here can be taken for granted and no one's motives are as pure as you would want them to be. The fai ...more

I absolutely loved this, I didn't think there would be a possibility of this being better than Throne of Glass, but it was. This book was like everything TOG was missing, so you can still love the two separate series for their own story, they aren't exactly the same book, like many authors second series are.

And I did.
The book did not disappoint.
Did not disappoint at all!

I enjoyed it though there were a few things that I didn’t like.
I loved the different kinds of fae, the great world building and Ms Maas’ incredible writing. I thought that Rhys and Lucien were great, intriguing characters, but didn’t connect with Feyre or Tamlin. I found Feyre to be annoying and I didn’t feel any chemistry between her and Tamlin. The beginning was very slow and there was not much action or development until the second half of the book. It certainly picked up the last third of t ...more
