This was a compelling read. I was engaged and honestly hoping for justice for wronged children and Family. This was a sobering look at the underbelly of adoption, especially when there is a lot of money on the table.

What a powerful read from a new to me author. Based on true events it is an emotional read that took my breath away at times. I had tears rolling down my cheeks and sometimes even sobs as my heart actually hurt. The vividness of the storytelling made me feel that I was there. The descriptions of the people, their feelings, their behaviors and surroundings were so graphic and realistic that I was transported.

Fantastic book but very sad. Even though it is a fiction it is based on true events regarding an adoption place in Tennessee back in the 1940s. 50s. Very well written.
So sad, but so good.

Interesting background source material for the story, but to me it felt more like a Hallmark movie.
