This is the most unique book I've read in quite awhile. Yes, it's a British mystery, of which I'm most fond. But unlike others, the main character suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving as a British soldier in WWI. He manifest his PTS through Hamish, the voice of a soldier who died on his watch during the war. He talks to Hamish and hears Hamish as he struggles to return to life at Scotland Yard and some sense of normalcy. I highly recommend all the books in the Det. Ian Rutle ...more

This is the second in the series with Ian Rutledge. I am really liking them. I like the character of Ian Rutledge and how he interacts with is tormenting subconscious voice, Hamish. This book was very thought provoking in trying to solve the case of family murders.
