I loved the mythology in this. The interpretation of the myth was highly creative and I loved the references to other myths and cultures. There was a hint of Hades and Persephone in here along with many other myths in addition to the original Rumpelstiltskin myth.
It was written in a fairytale-like manner and was quite atmospheric. I was doubting the ending for a bit but it turned out better than I could have imagined and left me wanting more.
Definitely going to read Uprooted now. :)
