I did enjoy this one. It was a quick, easy read. I didn't give it a four star rating because I felt there were times the action was trite, meaning all of a sudden something would happen to save her that hadn't been built up well at all. And I knew who the bad guy was about a fourth of the way through the book. Other than that, both Amelia and Devlin are engaging characters and I was hooked by them. Karen (thank you!) said she is reading this series. I like what she has recommended, and this is no exception. A thriller detective combo with a little Gothic romance stirred in the cauldron. Amelia Gray breaks the primo rule in working in graveyards, and we get to read about how that works out for her in the next 360 pages. Stevens' style suits the material. Shelves: mystery, favorites

One of the best mysteries I've read in a long time. Set in the south with the live oaks, hanging moss and crumbling graveyards, this is both thrilling emotionally, mentally, and settingly. Okay, I made up a word, but the setting is half the charm of the book. I highly recommend you run to the bookstore for this one. ...more

Good, quick read. Interesting characters. I will read the next in the series. The story takes place in Charleston- I am a sucker for the “old south” and voodoo stuff!
