I loved reading Katey go through the motions of adulthood, various friendships, attractions and finding her foothold in a career of her choice in the 1930s New York. The story of a successful older woman reminisce about her past a young, determined and a smart girl, when confronted with an image of her past is an allure by itself to continue on this book, and Towles’s beautiful, florid prose rich in imagery is the cherry on the cake.

The kind of book I need to read/ listen to a few times to catch the layers.
Well written, strong prose. Paints a picture of New York in the '30s that is vivid and striking.

It seemed to end abruptly but I think it actually pulled everything together, I was just sorry to see the characters go ... A good read.
