I really enjoyed this book.

The future world that Bacigalupi creates is full of life and details and technologies that are plausible and functional. The main characters are believable, and have flaws that make them interesting.

The only reason that I cannot give it five stars is that I thought that the plot was not that strong. Whilst it was complex, it didn't have the twist I was hoping for.

I read this because I saw it had such great reviews, but I didn't like it at all. I felt lost and confused at the start of the book, everything was only partly explained, the characters were not likeable, and relationships were not clear. And there was no ending. I can see how this would make a good film, but I didn't like it too much as a reading experience. ...more
