What a waste!

Seriously, this book started out amazingly. The writing full of promise and zeal, the events so obscure in history that I wanted to know more only to find it drag on and run in circles of repetition and bogged down subplots.

The book is written in five parts. In the first part, we meet Yael, the assassin's daughter, who takes us on a journey of horrors from a destroyed Jerusalem to the Fortress of Masada. Her story envelops you and you feel the sun burning above her, the wind howling ...more

Great read! Wonderfully written, I can't say which character was my favorite, since I saw apart of myself in each one. The story is violent, bloody and doomed and yet there is love, friendship and a will to survive. My only complaint is that it did seem to drag on a bit and for that reason I'm giving it 4 stars. ...more
