This is a story about two women, a generation apart.

A hard read but well worth it. Story about 2 women in Afghanistan and how their lives intertwine. A very powerful novel. My life is so candy ass lucky and peaceful and yet I complain about things still. Reading this has given me the nudge to zip my mouth. I am in awe of the strength and courage of these women, and many women like them in real life, to endure their day to day lives and still have hope and see beauty and trust in life and love and have faith in mankind and God. Brilliant, enlightening and depressing.
This is real life stuff about people, culture and an unforgiving environment in a country where daily challenges are significant and unrelenting. Emotions run high, life is intense and melodramatic. Loss and grief is the norm. It’s exhausting.
Hosseini expertly draws his reader into the lives of his characters. He unveils the amazing inner strength and resilience of women who live in a society that refuses to recognize they are human.

If you thought The Kite Runner was horrific this book is atleast 4x the horror it was. I normally try and avoid books with melodrama suffering and in general books on war. But this one left a deep impact on me. Especially the fact that the human will triumphs despite such seemingly insurmountable misery.
