3 stars 。・:*˚:✧。 I picked this book out of my TBR jar and I have had this book for 5 plus years. I did enjoy this book to an extent it was just way longer than it really had to be. It read like a historical romance due to the time period which was nice and kind of unexpected. I was not fully connected to the characters by the end of the book, but it was interesting seeing Cath turn from an innocent girl to a queen seeking revenge. Gripping, Hopeful, Emotional... Heartless.
Heartless is a book that immediately captured my attention; with its magical world, baker protagonist, scrumptious filled chapters (the desserts mentioned made me so hungry, I actually took note of it, and vowed to search if most of it are doable), and detailed world narration. This was kind of disappointing.. I didn't really like Catherine's character and how she blamed everybody else for things that happened instead of self-reflecting.. Jest deserves better :') Felt kind of iffy about their insta-love as well...
