What Members Thought

Well researched and I enjoyed the format of the book (cooking food in regards to the 4 elements), but I felt that sometimes it lost my interest. I found the last section on fermentation (Earth) to be the most interesting, but the section on Water to be a bit hard to get through. Overall, the take away is a beautiful message that cooking might be something people are doing less, but should be doing more because it is joyful, worth the time, and brings people together.

Very enjoyable story based look into some of the aspects of food's history. While the individual stories are pretty in depth, and told in an enjoyable chatty format which is a pleasure to read, there isn't a large total breadth to the book, but more of an in-depth look at a few aspects of cooking.
