I gave up on this - too much dull detail and not enough plot!
Engaging and compelling, with surprising narrative sweep given the relatively small core cast. The historical detail is superb, but this unfortunately serves to make the appearance of certain anachronistic phrases like "weapons of mass destruction" and "Homeland Security" that much more jarring. While I love a good historical parallel as much as the next armchair political historian, I prefer when an author gives space for the reader to draw that conclusion herself rather than feeling obligated
