I had never heard of this book before (thank you Bookish!), and after briefly reading the description, I thought that it would be something that was aligned with my interests. Boy, was I right, and what a tremendous find!

This is the story of an important series of events in European history that I had never heard of (Yeah, thanks a lot American public school system!)
Wow. The poetic, dreamlike writing style covers a whole bunch of not-always-pretty stuff.
You know, history. Not pretty.
I agree with some reviewers that the language is sometimes repetitive, but it hit me that repetition of key words is often used in poetry. Maybe that's why I liked it.
There's a country of horribly oppressed peasants, a mentally ill ...more
