A nice pair of novellas. `Hardboiled' is especially pleasant for its imagery and use of language, although I found the story somehow less compelling than I wanted it to be. `Hard Luck' was a very pretty story---dreamy, thoughtful, slow and hopeful. I liked it a great deal. ...more
