Here I am at Pendergast 4 and this one is off on another tangent. He is an intriguing character, seemingly highly intelligent, incredibly strong, and always one step ahead of everyone else. This one was as fast paced as the others, but required a bit more suspension of disbelief. I'll never look at a cornfield the same again, though. ...more

Preston's books are kind of like eating snacks. Very tasty but not much to think about after you are finished. This one is a little different when you finally get to meet the killer and find out about his life. You won't love him, but can appreciate his plight. ...more

Much better than the previous book. Bonus points for the environmental lessons.

I thought that Cabinet of Curiosities was my favorite Pendergast book, but this one ranks right up there with it - it just might be a tie for first place. Love Preston & Child, Love AXLP.
