It's 1917 and the Emersons have returned to Egypt for an extended stay due to the hazards of war time travel. The family is excavating a village but are distracted by the exploits of Jamil who is still robbing tombs. About halfway through the book the storyline completely shifts to spy exploits in Gaza. I didn't like the split in the story and found parts of the story slow moving. There is still plenty of humor to be found and it isl overall an enjoyable read. ...more
