What Members Thought

I enjoyed reading this story about Ender and his mission to save the world. This book has a lot to say about power, politics and how leaders are made. I thought that the characters were well drawn and that the story moved along at a good pace. It's a predictable story in some ways, but not others, which is how Card avoids making it a "been there, done that" experience".

This is a thought provoking novel which brings up many interesting problems in an almost realistic world of Card's imagination. I can't help but wonder how the sensitive, emotional Ender copes with all that is handed to him at age six. As he gets a bit older I see how this could work , but a six year old? I doubtit

I echo my mom's sentiment on this that a child reputed to be as sensitive and empathetic as Ender should miss his parents at least a little - it seems like a significant gap in his makeup that Card doesn't attempt to explain. Overall it's an engaging book, but I miss that sense of connection you get with a character that can (and does) stumble and fail sometimes.
