Kate Svenson is extremely successful but lonely. Her best friend Jessi convinces her to travel to a resort in Thayers Corner, Kentucky where she has a plan to meet the right man. Jake Templeton is a handyman and co-owner of the resort who has no interest in getting involved with another driven career woman like Kate, yet he keeps getting her out of trouble. This is Crusie's first book and it's a bit rough in spots but still fun. The series of dates Kate goes on at the resort is hilarious.

(3.5-4 stars) My first book by Jennifer Crusie and it was very enjoyable. It had several laugh-out-loud moments and I really loved the leading characters, Jake and Kate. The reason I'm not giving it a higher rating is that at times the book/plot/writing seemed a little simple - I don't know how else to describe it, really.

You just can't go wrong with Jennifer Crusie! This book was very light and fun with some awesome characters.

Typical Cruisie, but good for a laugh
I've been reading romantic fiction for years and am always on the look out for a likeable story that doens't make me nauseous but still delivers on the sweet stuff (after all I want ROMANTIC fiction). So I liked this author. the story was sweet, not too kinky and its pleasant. And best of all the writing didn't make me cringe. I will definitely be ok about buying more of her books.
