I have heard about this book for such a long time now and I CANNOT believe it took me this long to finally read it—because WOW was it fantastic!! Definitely one of my new top favorite romances. Ian is incredible, Beth is amazing, together they're priceless. Ian is a really, really unique hero and Ashley did a superb job with him, truly.

I read such great things about this book, I expected to love it, and to love the hero, and I just ... didn't. Prompt: connected to a 2021 read

That the lead is an autistic savant was very interesting because the indications are there - inability to lie, difficulty in understanding non-literal statements, challenge in sustained eye contact but was not diagnosed and unfortunately subjected to barbaric treatments. I also liked that the help also had distinctive personalities.

I don’t always gravitate towards romances like this one, in which either or both the hero/heroine succumb to love at first sight. But this one was a satisfying read. The plot didn’t feel contrived and the characters were lovable. Like everyone else, I’ve fallen in love with the Mackenzie family!

A captivating story despite being predictable, this book features Ian Mackenzie, who is a suspect in two murders, abused son of a despised (and fortunately, dead) duke, and intriguing love interest of Beth Ackerley, former paid companion and recent heiress to her boss's fortune. The story becomes much more complex when a Scotland Yard detective is determined to pin the murders on at least one, if not two, of the Mackenzie brothers. This is a page-turner with some surprising plot elements. Defini ...more
