Twelve year old Prosper and his 5 year old brother Boniface (Bo) have been orphaned. Their aunt only wants to adopt Bo because he is angelic looking so they run away to Venice. They are befriended by a group of orphans who live in an abandoned movie theater and their leader the thief lord. A wonderful young adult book.
Not what I was expecting as for some reason I had imagined it would be set in the past, perhaps 19th century when in fact it is set in the present day.
Great fun, great characters, great dialogue and a little bit of magic.
