A sweet fairy tale, with just enough darkness that it isn't saccharine. A bit of romance, a bit of sarcasm, a bit of royal intrigue, and a changeling child who loses his heart to a fallen star. What could be more delightful?
Definitely in the same ballpark with The Princess Brideand The Last Unicorn. ...more

3.5 rounded down. Tristran Thorn is half faerie and half human. When Victoria Forester, who Tristran has a crush on, promises him anything he wants if he retrieves a fallen star Tristran ventures into the land of Faerie. I like the main story of Tristran and the star but the story seemed very abbreviated and aimed more towards children than adults, except for the sex scene early in the book, which is why I didn't rate it higher. It was an enjoyable read but not my favorite book by Gaiman.

Absolutely charming and delightful. Read the whole thing with a big smile on my face. Sweet and funny and gooey.

Cute little tale, with moments of humour and sadness, along with a proper faerie tale ending. Feels like a children's book but isn't. Pity about the unicorn.
