I'm already a committed Penny fan, but this one is probably my favorite of the five she's written so far - it brings together a number of threads from her first two novels in a very powerful way. I think what I love most is the depth she gives to her characters and their interior worlds - the small glimpses into their unrevealed feelings are what really make them come alive for me.

Strange premise to the murder but interesting character development. The people are more interesting than the mystery but that’s ok.
Very enjoyable mystery series.
Started a bit slow, but by 1/3 in, I was hooked! So nice to be in Three Pines again with Gamache and his extended family. I simply adore this series!
