The story of Laura's husband, Almanzo Wilder's childhood growing up on a farm in New York. Almanzo loves horses and eats, a lot. This series has always been one of my favorite but this book is probably my least favorite in the series. As a child I think I related more to Laura. As an adult I like the descriptions of how things were made, like shoes, and all the work that went into the harvest. The book sends a lot of time discussing food.
