My rating is an actual 3.5 stars.

This is a nice story of a Southern family in 1906 Georgia. The setting is very well done and the plot includes some of the innovations in society that would set the world spinning well into the twentieth century. This was such an era of the birth of ideas and experience, and I find reading about it very appealing.
