Not his best, and probably somewhat dated now. That said, better than the George C. Scott movie, which was pretty bad.

Andy McGee and his daughter Charlie are on the run from The Shop, a secret government agency. Andy and his now deceased wife took part in the trial of a drug, Lot Six, which gave them special powers and gave their daughter the power of pyrokenesis. The book was slow in spots which is why I didn't give it a higher rating. To me the book was most interesting during the time spent on the Manders farm and when Charlie is using her powers. ...more

Glad to read this immediately after Gunslinger (which I despised.) This is King at some of his best. Well-written, engrossing, suspenseful plot about a strong relationship between a father and daughter. Interesting villains. Solid ending. And, hey, it's short! ...more
