One of those rare occasions when the movie is far better than the book. Unforgivable adverbs...sloppy and repetitive. Jack's got a few more crass & funny lines than in the film, and some scenes are interestingly very different than the film. The film is a very different beast, a work of art made from the flawed clay the book is.

Another rare example of a film being better than the book. The whole subplot involving the crazed pig hunter guy was a little over the top for me, and the author's use of pretentious adjectives and various other 50-cent words irritated me a bit. Otherwise, a simple yet beautiful book.
