Just awful, if an author is going to propose a biography of a well known figure, at least have the courage to acknowledge a bias or predisposition to a certain viewpoint. This so-called biography is laughable. Yes she had access to "never before seen documents", but shouldn't we have heard some of this before? Somehow the author knows what Princess Diana's children and Tony Blair were thinking and their thoughts always paint Diana in the worst light possible. Really! Very National Enquirer-like.

This book starts off mildly interesting then becomes painfully boring. Couldn't finish. Could not care less. Will never understand the British monarchy. What a strange life. I do not understand why people go along with it all. I enjoyed this book about the Queen Mother. It's filled with numerous details, and I came away from this read as more informed about the Queen both as a person and as a ruler than I had been prior to reading it. I felt, however, that this portrayal was "pro-Queen" in that except for her early years as a monarch when she put her children aside to carry out her new-found leadership responsibilities after the death of her father, the Queen seemed to never to do anything wrong. Sycophant, fatuous, partisan and neither insightful nor incisive. Just one privileged incident after another, and at length.
Prince Philip walks with BOTH hands behind his back if you'd only open your eyes and look! So far that's the dumbest statement in this book. I don't like "Confidential Sources" though.
