A bit more complicated than usual but still funny and entertaining with a jaw-dropper of a cliffhanger at the end!
I continue to enjoy this series. The writing remains strong and the revealing of more of the ongoing story of the de Luce family and their connections brings lots of flavor to these books. I particularly like that Flavia is written as both brilliant and imperfect. She is often a kid just when she needs to be, with the bravery that allows children to ask lots of questions and the lack of shame when it is time to find the exit door. Good reads.
Another juicy mystery from the great Flavia de Luce! This time, the mystery in Bishop's Lacey feels so right. The amount of adventures, mysterious suspects, gothic setting in the church and cemetery, all fit well in a Flavia story.
I can also sense that we're near the end of de Luce's family mystery, the big story behind every mystery Flavia faced since the first book. This makes me want to grab the next installment in a beat! ...more

Flavia has fast become one of my very favorite recurring crime-solvers - Bradley consistently presents her in such a winning and charming way that I can't help but adore her. She's the epitome of precocious, but rather than seeming saccharine or overly mature, at her heart she's clearly just a kid. And with this installment's cliffhanger (pun intended), I can't wait for more to come.
