3.5 stars. Alexander McCall Smith makes me happy. I can always depend on him to make me feel better about the world in general, and Scotland in particular. I think my favorite characters in this series may be Brother Fox and Grace, because they seem more 'real' to me than the main characters, but it's all good.

This book is okay. I much prefer the Ladies #1 Detective Agency ones, that read much faster and to my mind, are more interesting. However, for people who like philosophy, this book would be a good read for them.

Loved this book of the on-going happenings in/around the witty, philosophically-inclined character of Isabel Dalhousie in another chapter (Book 9) of this classic Alexander McCall Smith series.

I love his sweet meandering style. This is another lovely installment in the Isabel Dalhousie series. It feels good to catch up with her, Jamie and Charlie.
