Always love a Christie (especially Poirot) everytime I am in a reading slump. And it always works for me!
I've read this book several times already but never got bored because somehow I love the atmosphere- Poirot helping his old friend Inspector Spence with a murder case in a small village. And there's Mrs. Oliver, too, with her "female instinct" and chaotic creative writing process :D I like how Christie put some of her personal insights of a writer's life here as a subplot.

Oh Hercule Poirot, how you warm my heart with your Belgian antics and your mad sleuthing skillz...

While you certainly feel Poirot's sentiment that the guy he's trying to save from the hangman's noose hardly seems worth the effort, I always enjoy an Ariadne Oliver appearance and the unraveling of the mystery is delightfully complex as all the characters reveal their small parts.
