Overall, a fun, light and quick read. What started out as a great book for me fizzled out in the end. I found the coincendences to be a bit much and then ultimate "meaning" of the story (view spoiler) to be a little simple and juvenile, which may be why I have seen some discussion around whether the book should be considered YA.

This was one of those books that takes quite a while to figure out what it’s all about. Clay lost his website and logo design job due to cutbacks, so he gets a job as a night clerk at an unusual book store. He ends notices some weird things and so he and the girl he’s dating try to figure it out. She works at Google and has access to high-tech computers. Anyway, they are led on to more and more. Initially I wasn't quite sure what to make of this, but ultimately I feel like Sloan did a really nice job of capturing what I love about books - not their physicality but the world of ideas they bring to their readers and the connections we forge when ideas get shared. In a way, I find it refreshing to read a book-about-books that's more about where we are right now and where we're going, and not in an I-miss-the-old-days way.
