I gave this 3 * because it is more of a young-adult and fantasy-based, which are not genres I typically read.
Prior to ordering it on audio on Libby, I read a lot of reviews that describe it as 'too techy'. Well, I happen to love tech, at my age, but have no interest in coding and especially not in gaming. However, if I were in my 20-30's, I might enjoy working at Google :)

Overall, a fun, light and quick read. What started out as a great book for me fizzled out in the end. I found the coincendences to be a bit much and then ultimate "meaning" of the story (view spoiler) to be a little simple and juvenile, which may be why I have seen some discussion around whether the book should be considered YA.

What a ride! I love Mr.Penumbra's, from the mysterious bookstore, the cozy San Francisco, the crazy fellowship, the puzzling mystery, and especially the narrator, Clay Jennon. He's phenomenal! I wish there will be more books like this.

Nothing deep here, but I did like the theme of how the printed book and technology can get along.
