book of short stories.. each quite captivating. the author's creative take on true folks. . many immigrants to US/Canada during the 19th century. definitely worthwhile if you enjoy short stories and a bit of historical fiction

I'm not a big fan of short stories so I found this best part of this collection was the author's comments on how she got the ideas for the stories, mostly from historical documents and newspapers of the late 1800's.
